** PROJECT WINS**
Barpa is excited to announce a successful start to the 2019 year. We’ve managed to secure three new Defence projects in Western Australia, adding to a NT project we secured in late December.
Our teams work hard to win these projects and we are always up against excellent competition.
We thank the Department of Defence and its Project Delivery Service partners Aurecon and Augility for recognising the value and quality of Barpa’s submissions and performance.
These projects will continue to help us deliver on our vision to ‘Empower Indigenous people and businesses’. The projects are to be completed by our teams within the next 36 weeks with the engagement of local contractors and Indigenous contractors.
The projects are;

– Regional Fire Protection Equipment Compliance, WA
– RAAF Base Curtin Building Works, WA
– Robertson Barracks WONCO Wing demountable Replacement, NT
August has been a productive month for Barpa securing two new construction contracts!
Pilbara Building Works Project
Barpa has been awarded the construction of the Department of Defence, Pilbara Building Works Project. The scope of works of this project involves building works in remote areas of Northern Western Australia namely Carnavon, Derby, Newman and Tom Price. The works relate to the provision of and installation of demountable accommodation. This project win reinforces the relationship, between Barpa, the Department of Defence and its Project Delivery Service partner Aurecon. The project is expected to be completed within the next 20 weeks with the engagement of local Indigenous contractors.
Vehicle and Boat Storage Works Project
Barpa has been awarded the construction of the Department of Defence, Vehicle and Boat Storage Works Project. The scope of works of this project involves building works in remote areas of Far North Queensland namely Weipa, Bamaga and Thursday Island. The works relate to various Army Reserve Training Depots and Deployment Facilities. This project win reinforces the relationship, between Barpa, the Department of Defence and its Project Delivery Service partner Augility. The project is expected to be completed within the next 17 weeks though the engagement of local Indigenous contractors
Barpa is proud to announce it has been awarded a contract from the Department of Defence at the Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera, Queensland. This project involves 12 different refurbishment and remediation tasks across a range of locations within Gallipoli Barracks. The works are expected to take 9 months to complete.
This is Barpa’s second project being performed at Gallipoli Barracks with works well underway undertaking extensive Electrical Remediation Works upgrading aging and outdated electrical infrastructure.

Vehicle Maintenance Ramp Modifications
RAAF Base Learmonth
The Western Australian division of Barpa Construction Services were awarded a project under the Estate Works Program, providing the Commonwealth with a value for money outcome through an Indigenous Supplier. The Construction Only Contract was managed by Aurecon for the Department of Defence.
The project comprised modifications to vehicle maintenance ramps and the installation of a new oily water separator and modifications to vehicle maintenance ramps and minor modification works to an existing oily water separator at RAAF Learmonth in Exmouth, WA.
RAAF Base Learmonth Combined Mess Facility
Minilya-Exmouth Rd, Learmonth WA - Australia
Following extensive cyclone damage, a permanent Combined Mess Facility was constructed by Barpa Construction Services at RAAF Base Learmonth.
Civil, structural, building services and fit out works were undertaken, in addition to a large commercial kitchen, food storage and servery areas. As part of the project, Barpa coordinated the removal of undocumented, existing asbestos and also coordinated works by an external specialist contractor to demolish and replace the existing gas tanks.
The project was undertaken in full compliance with base security requirements.
National Training Areas & Ranges Improvement Programme (NTARIP)
Lancelin, Bindoon, Muchea, Swanbourne, WA - Australia
Esslemont Cockram was contracted by the Department of Defence to carry out a range of civil, general maintenance and radar system upgrade in the four locations North of Perth. The works formed one part of a major range improvement program being executed across Australia, at the same time
The scope of works included many kilometers of roads upgrades and general facilities improvements as well as the installation of technically complex radar systems. These systems were designed and installed within Cockrams contract including a portion of work that was leading edge technology, the first time ever installed in Australian defence ranges.
